I've been struck by illness recently which, thankfully, I'm also over. However, while I've been convalescing, I've been reading up on some things of interest and have written some ridiculous little items on them, for your perusal:
Stupid Idea Involving Diego Garcia
Ok, I'm done. More Podcasts coming soon :)
1.02.08 - Excogitation
Aaand another: Podcast 32.
Extra long, couple of very nice ones in there..
Also, I've set up a page just for the podcasts, avoiding all the rest of the nonsense on this site: podcast.8hz.co.uk
28.01.08 - His Problems are Gonna be Solved RIGHT IN THE FACE
So then, my new spacey mixture of music: Podcast 31 is up.
The ending of which genuinely freaked out a number of people in Brighton last weekend.. so, thats an achievement of sorts.. yeah?
Hope you like it.
12.01.08 - Virtual Turton
Seems there's no much going on on here apart from podcasts these days, eh? But oh well, enjoy, nonetheless..

15.09.07 - Anubis' Prison
I realised today, whilst lecturing my cat on the value of a hard day's work, that I still hadn't updated the player on the Love The Machine website to the new flash one..
So.. After procrastinating a little longer (the last bit is always best), I did so.
Also: I've recorded a new mix. The listy and alternative link are up on the podcast page, as per.
13.08.07 - Evelyn Spyro Throckmorton
There be a new mix. 'tis avaiable here, and on the podcast page.
Still haven't fixed the the IE problem, so if you use Internet Explorer you'll have to right-click and 'save as'.. sorry.
07.08.07 - (Sigh)
Well once again, Internet Explorer causes problems.. MP3's dont seem to want to play instantly, so you have to wait for the whole file to buffer before it plays.. This must've been happing on the LTM site for ages now, sorry guys.
I'll look into a way of fixing it. In the mean time; get a decent browser!
05.08.07 - Cat Bag
Right, before we get going, refresh you page a few times (or if you're using Firefox: refresh, close the window, and load the site again..!) Seriously, go on...
We back? Ok, hopefully there should be an ominous looking box in the bottom right of the titlebar. That, my friends, is the music box.. the noise hatch.
From now on, when you click on the podcasts or any other mp3 or wav media, they should load up in that little area. So now you can still wibble around on the site while the music's playing... Which.. is.. something you want to do..? perhaps.
But, y'know, it's kind of cool: Try It, Click here!
I've also found out I could've upgraded to 2Gb webspace (probably some time ago), ironically just after I decided to delete a whole bunch of stuff.. So, I might go back to having 10 Podcasts at a time, or I might just start scheming on how best to use the extra space.
22.07.07 - The Double Dooper
I've been having a bit of a clean-up around here, freeing up some space, removing some of the fluff from the corners and updating some of the jibber. The main difference being I'm only hosting 5 podcasts at a time from here on in. But, in return, all future mixes will be 192kbps at least. Rejoice!
The games page has now lost all the MKS stuff and gained some early bits a pieces of sound design for Open Outcast.
Also, all the 'Lost' stuff is now gone. Let us never speak of this again ;P.
So, there's a new mix up on the Podcast Page. S'got some nice bits in it.
Finally, I'm thinking of starting up 8Hz Radio again.. Still haven't decided when and how to do it (i.e. Im gonna have a play around with streaming some different audio formats & broadcasting software) but I'm up for having another go.
03.07.07 - Bambaata
Short new mix with some lovely clicks in it. Mmmmm.
As per, its on the Podcast Page.
Also, if you're interested in the audio chronicles of a Mr. Samuel Turton AKA 'DJ Earl Grey', and let's face it; who isn't? Have a listen to his new podcast
The things that guy can do with a kids casio keyboard and a soldering iron, wow.

S'up on the Podcast Page.
06.03.07 - Master Cylinder
I've finished off a collection of very odd ambient music, available on the Other Projects page. Its called 'Lost Balance' and it marks the end of nearly 5 years of making silly, silly noises and pretending it's actually music.
Sometime soon I'll start a more focused project under a different name. Until then, I hope you enjoy this depressing selection of downtempo bleeps.
20.02.07 - Bruce Boxleitner played Tron in Tron
Hi!
I've updated the Games Projects page, with links to some of the new stuff I've been working on, and some pretty logos..
Also, as you might've noticed on The 8Hz Radio Page, I've decided to take a break from this webcasting malarky for a little while.
It'll be back though. It'll be back...

02.01.07 - Happy New Year
Post-3am New Years Day sounded something like this.
Here's to this year being a happier one.
21.12.06 - I've thought it all out, see
Its been a long time since I've done a podcast without it being a mix-type-mix. So I decided to make another.
The blending is pretty silly, but the tracks are nice.
Taking a break from webcasting for a couple of weekends, seeing as its chrimbo, and we've all got better things to be doing. I'll probably still be mixing away though, so expect a couple of festive podcasts.
19.12.06 - Something I should have tested, really..
Internet Explorer is for bummers and the undead. Use Firefox!
However, if you still wont see sense, this site now works properly on IE again. Sorry.
13.12.06 - Minor Ch-Ch-Ch...
I've made some minor changes to the website, it now runs with iframes (like the radio page, but without the ugly little scroll box).
So, now I can make changes to to page layout a lot easier and, best of all, the chunky title and navigation bar will only have to load once (instead of with every page). Should make everything move a bit quicker.
Oh yeah, I've also given the podcasts thier own navi link and separate page from the rest of the 'other projects' guff.
Since I've been playing with the site a bit today, Ive set the radio page shout box to login automatically, so no more ill-fitting logon screens.
However, this does mean you get logged in with a default name, and have to use '/nick yourname' to set something yourself. I don't know, I guess it'll do for now until i find a decent bit of shoutbox code.
10.12.06 - Pep
Which means the first one is now gone.
To make up for it, this one is extra long and extra spicy.
07.12.06 - Baddies
And a very good day to you sir/madam,
I've made another little mix, randomly selected from my box of noises, it can be procured from this location.
This is my 10th podcasty-type-thing, and unfortunately the hyperweb deities are no longer blessing me with unlimited webspace. So, when I upload the 11th installment of the noisy saga, no.1 will dissappear without a trace. And so it shall continue.
Oh yeah, also I've started putting together some work for a couple more games projects;
I'm going to try and make some sounds for EcksDee.
And make some ambient spookyness for Crystal Core.
Wish me luck.
15.11.06 - That's me there, that is
Well hello there,
Rejoice! as the new version of UFO: Alien Invasion has been released, complete with a hefty selection of my music.
There's also been a long list of fixes and tweaks to the game engine so, if you havent already, have a go.

The mixing just doesn't stop. I made another podcast this evening, and it is bouncy.
You can get it from this little page here. I hope you like it.

As always it's a little sloppy in places. This time, as a special bonus, it distorts a bit towards the end, aren't you lucky?!
You can get it right about here
04.10.06 - Having an arch enemy means...
I've managed to latch myself onto another games music project, this time UFO : Alien Invasion. A very promising remake of the classic X:Com games.
I've also, once again, managed to make an utter mess of my initial contribution to the project, have a listen, some of these are pathetic.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
19.09.06 - Have you got an Input?
Myself and Mr. Samuel Batt have recently completed a discs-worth of techy housey glitchy nonsense.
You can download the whole album Right here.
We hope you like it.
31.08.06 - I had a striz-oke in my briz-ain
Yet another podcast uploaded; this one, if you didn't know better, could be described as either 'hip' or perhaps even 'hop'.
As always, please forgive the occasional sloppiness of my mixing. Hope you enjoy it.
18.08.06 - New Page Design
I haven't just been drinking ginger beer and playing Starcraft, hoo no.
I've made a new stand-alone page for 8Hz Radio.
Basically, I want to be able to promote it and get some local artists on board without being worried about all my other web-guff getting in the way.
It's even got a chat-box, imagine that!
17.08.06 - RavenHome
After quite a while with no webby-access, im back online and still making silly, silly mixes. In fact, i just made one.
No real news though; same old, same old.
28.07.06 - Eggs between his legs
I'm moving house on Sunday, so there'll be no radio noises going on that evening. Once again, I've made a dancey little podcast to go in it's place; this time a sloppily-mixed selection of tunes from my set at the 'Tyres last weekend. Get it here.
- It's a'meee!
I've also updated the Games Projects Page with some blah about my work on Mario Kart : Source and some Work-In-Progress sound and MK64 remixes. Hope you like 'em.
09.07.06 - WhoHe?
Played a set at Studio 3 in Bury last night. Weird place, but I had a whale of a time. Good fun.
I've posted up a shortened and sloppy version of my set as the most recent podcast.
Also, probably due to some kind of administrative flip-flop, I seem to have lots of webspace, so I figured I might as well host all of the podcasts. So, check out the new section in Other Projects > Podcasts.
Hope you like them.
04.07.06 - In Every Pie
Fun times, fun times.
I've recently finished mixing Tom Hollingworth's new album. The man's a lyrical magician, he really is. I intend to play the album in-full on next sunday's broadcast (Sunday 16th July) at around 8:30pm, be there!
I also got a bit sentimental and self-indulgant today and have put together a little compilation of my music, new and old, as my latest podcast which can be downloaded here.
21.06.06 - No Kidding
My oh my. Lots of stuff happening at once here.
Did manage to record a nice little mix though:
08.06.06 - Doing things; Things are being done.
I've managed to get involved with a couple of projects; I'm on the sound team for Mario Kart: Source and am composing some tracks for a new project Mr. Phipps is working on.
Fantastic stuff. I've already got cracking on both, and am looking forward to getting more thoroughly stuck-in with projects in the near future.
So, what else is new?
- Moved the main podcast link to the Other Projects - Music page.
To save webspace, and because of the sketchy legality of the whole business, I'll only host one of these at a time, so keep an eye out.
- Older news posts are now kept on another page, scroll down a bit, 'av a look.
- There've been many posts in the Scribblings section I havent mentioned here, I might even write one today if the mood takes me.
02.06.06 - Facey Fitzpatrick
Probably won't be any 8Hz Radio this weekend, busy busy busy.
Instead, have a listen to this.
29.05.06 - ChaosGroove : Black Box Edition
I've uploaded my sketchy music mod for Richard Phipps' new remake of Chaos.
You can download the game here.
As with a lot of things on this site, you'll need WinRAR to extract the files.
Have a look at the Black Box Project pages for more info.
23.05.06 - Printing the Internet
Ah! Oh! Yes.
Seems like the server this site was hosted on has melted. So, After spending the afternoon staring at a progress bar, we're back in business.
The Forum died, so I've set up a new one, ramble in it, please do.
- Your Noise
Many thanks to everyone that tuned in on Sunday, I had lotsa fun, hope you did too.
Also cheers once more to everyone that contributed music, and apologies to anyone I missed out. Hopefully I'll be doing a similar night again sometime soon.

13.05.06 - All Dunn
So, yeah. Independent Project? Finito.
Games Music portfolio. all suited & booted. placed in a box.
I've uploaded my compositions to video clips to the Portfolio page, they're in flash format, to save people to have to worry about video codecs, hope that works ok for y'all.
So, once I've finished a bit of writing about.. well.. about Bruce Willis... and tucked this website's shirt in a bit, I should be all ready for hand-ins and the end of uni. Crikey.
22.04.06 - Credits: Future Money
Slowly, but surely, things are nearing completion. Only a few tracks left that need any real work, most are now ready for mixing, mastering, and to be made to sound less ridiculous.
Oh, and, er, let's pretend I never planned to compose a tune for tower of Goo.. Nothing I could produce was anything siginficantly different to, or even as fitting as, the jaunty tune the game originally sports.
So, If you haven't already, Check it out, it's a very fun little game.
17.04.06 - Good times at Glemsford Tyres
Back in Leeds, made a few updates to the site:
- Sorted out display problems in IE and Safari (I hope).
- Finally managed to get rid of the underlining between image links.
- Added a scribblings section, for regular blah that couldnt really be classed as 'news' and more glorious mid-sentence hypertext.
- Locked in a small room, making silly noises.
Still badgering away at my Games Music Porfolio.
The music is looking closest to 'complete' for:
- Gate 88
- Guild wars
- Harvest Moon 64
- Ico
- Star Control 2
- Red Dead Revolver
Still quite a lot of work to do, and very little time to get it done.
05.04.06 - Progress(ive) Shed
Things are coming along with my games music portfolio, slowly but surely; most of the tracks are now up and running (Albeit little more than rough ideas and structural skeletons).
In the coming weeks I'll hopefully be organising sessions for violin, saxophone, and some hefty metal basslines, then we should be talking business.
There's also been some sad news about ChaosGroove; Richard has landed some more work in shareware games which, although this is fantastic news for him, means ChoasGroove will be on hold for a while. Luckily for me, the latest WIP has more than enough content to use as a demo for Black Box; the stages of the game are all together and the combat system works fine, it's already a very playable little game.
I wish Richard the best of luck with his new project, and send on my thanks for his advice and help with Black Box, and of course for keeping ChaosGroove open source; Legend.
I've also decided to scrap the plan to compose for a video clip of Worms 3D. Seeing as it was intended to be a prospective demonstration of what Black Box could do, and ChaosGroove will be a playable demo of a turn-based strategy with the system included, it seemed a fairly pointless exercise.
So, yeah. Not long left for all this business now, the portfolio (along with a fairly hefty writeup) is due on the 12th of May. Time is running out, Wish me Luck!
28.03.06 - www.8hz.co.uk
Yes indeedy, some real hosting at last! My choice of host may not be the cheapest around, but there's no upload limits or file-type restrictions, so it's ideal for my purposes.
So, yeah, we are now www.8hz.co.uk, Bookmark this page, or ill send the hired goons to your house again...
I'm back down south for easter, hopefully this means i'll be able to get cracking on the games music portfolio... But it most probably means i'll spend a number of weeks aimlessly frolicking in the countryside... Either way, I'll post regularly on how things progress.
26.03.06 - New Hosting Malarky
Sorted out a new way to align the page content, the old method I was using is pretty rubbish.
This seems to work much better.
Now to get everything uploaded to a new host...
- Good clean fun
Nice bit of music this evening, went pretty well.
many thanks to the beautiful people that tuned in.
24.03.06 - Disbelieve this!
Eureka!
I've just (finally!) managed to get the black box system to compile with Richard Phipps' new Chaos remake. During a typically bleary-eyed tinkering session with the code, i realised what I was doing wrong and managed to get the system working.
This is, of course, thanks to Richard's clean and clear coding, and very little to do with my 'l33t' programming skills... Lets face it, I struck it lucky.
So, yes, I'm going to get a full composition for ChaosGroove together before i start ironing out the bugs in the code. By the time the music's done no doubt there'll be a new version of the game code out.
but the point is: i can do it!
22.03.06 - New Website layout
Scrapped the poor quality, and somewhat buggy, tables layout in favour of a tasty CSS setup
...and yes. yes, it is the future
So the site is pretty much set up now, just got to work my way around some web-hosts and work out which ones aren't likely to contractually kill my firstborn in return for their services.
....Wish me luck!
